Jubilee! Circle is based on the model created by Jubilee! Community Church in Asheville, North Carolina. Led by the amazing Howard Hanger, Jubilee! has been a source of many blessings for the community of Asheville, contributing money to feed the hungry and launching many other ministries that feed the community spiritually. It is our honor to share their name and their vision. Please visit Asheville’s Jubilee! Community Church Web site and whenever you find yourself in that beautiful place, stop by at 46 Wall Street and visit them for the best “OH, YEAH” you’ll ever utter.
Jubilee! Circle began as a parish extension of Garden of Grace United Church of Christ in Columbia, SC. We are grateful for their support. Visit them in Columbia at 1020 Atlas Road.
Rev. Candace Chellew was ordained in 2002 by Gentle Spirit Christian Church in Atlanta, Georgia, and remains a part of this amazing “church without walls” that meets in Atlanta’s Candler Park.
Back in 1996, when the Internet was run by a hamster on a wheel, Rev. Candace Chellew founded a little online magazine for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Christians called Whosoever. The magazine has stopped production but its archives are still online to provide resources and inspiration for God’s LGBT children.
In 2008, Rev. Candace Chellew published her first book, Bulletproof Faith: A Spiritual Survival Guide for Gay and Lesbian Christians, based on a workshop she developed on spiritual self-defense for LGBT Christians. The book is published by Jossey-Bass and endorsed by such spiritual giants as Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Bishop John Shelby Spong. Visit the Bulletproof Faith Official Web site
Jubilee! Circle uses the theology of Creation Spirituality as its base. Matthew Fox first wrote about this form of spirituality in his book Original Blessing. Learn more about Matthew Fox and Creation Spirituality
